A preliminary hearing for a man accused of killing a York University student will begin Monday.
Brian Dickson, 30, is charged with first-degree murder in the death of Qian Liu, 23. He was denied bail earlier this month.
Monday’s hearing will determine if there is enough evidence to go to trial. There is a publication ban on further details of the court hearings.
Liu was found dead in a basement apartment near York University on April 15, 2011.
She was chatting online with her boyfriend who lives in China when someone knocked on her door. The boyfriend told police he saw Liu struggle with another man before her computer was shut off.
Liu had moved to Toronto from China in September 2010, to attend York.
The cause of death hasn’t been determined.
