Members of the emergency task force search for a man near Kingston Road and Woodbine Avenue on Thursday, June 7, 2012.
A teen who was the subject of a manhunt through the Beaches – putting 15 schools in a hold and secure situation as a precaution – was arrested in a high-risk takedown early Friday morning.
Toronto police confirmed Nicholas Dillion-Jack, 18, was taken into custody at a Howard Johnson Hotel on Metropolitan Road, near Warden Avenue and Highway 401, at about 4 a.m.
Police shut down streets surrounding the hotel and secured the building before they swept in and made the arrest. The arrest was made by members of the guns and gangs task force.
Dillion-Jack was wanted on a charge of attempted murder in connection with a stabbing in Kensington Market last month.
Officers launched a large-scale search for Dillion-Jack on Thursday afternoon when, police said, he was spotted on Kingston Road, near Woodbine Avenue, but fled.
Police set up a wide perimeter and heavily-armed members of the emergency task force scoured the neighbourhood, but police unable to locate the teen.
During the search, 15 schools were placed in a hold and secure situation as a precaution because police believed the man they were looking for was armed.
It is not known if police recovered a weapon during Friday's arrest.
Dillion-Jack is charged in a stabbing that occurred at St. Stephen's Community House on Augusta Avenue, between College and Oxford streets, on May 23.
The 16-year-old boy who was stabbed suffered serious injuries.
