A 19-year-old man has been rushed to hospital with non-life threatening injuries after he was shot in the abdomen near the Lawrence Avenue East SRT station.
It happened at around 1 p.m.
According to Const. Wendy Drummond, the victim was found in the vicinity of GO Transit tracks that are adjacent to the SRT track.
He was taken to hospital via emergency run suffering from an "obvious gunshot wound."
"The main priority right now is the preservation of life," Drummond said.
Police are searching for a white male dressed in dark-coloured clothing in connection with the incident.
TTC service has not been impacted as a result.
GO Transit trains on the Stouffville line are travelling at reduced speeds between Kennedy and Agincourt as a result of the police investigation and minor delays are expected.
