Brampton man faces charges in baby’s death

Brampton man faces charges in baby’s death

A 20-year-old Brampton man has been charged with second-degree murder in the death of his three-month-old son more than a year ago.

On September 22, 2010, police and paramedics went to a home on Flowertown Avenue, near McLaughlin Road North and Queen Street West, where they found Tyson Garbutt-Streeter in distress.

The baby was taken to a Brampton hospital and put on life support.

Six days later, Tyson was taken off life support and died. Peel police Const. Thomas Ruttan said it took more than a year to conclude the investigation of what homicide detectives initially deemed a suspicious pediatric death.

“Once the medical examination was completed, then the investigation takes a different turn,” Ruttan said.
