The city is bracing for Saturday's Occupy Toronto demonstration, a massive protest attacking corporate greed.
The rally will begin at 10 a.m. at King and Bay streets, Occupy Toronto said. The demonstrators will then likely move to other areas of the city, including Yonge and Dundas Square - but organizers aren't saying exactly where they'll be heading. That information will be revealed on Saturday.
The movement started in New York City as demonstrators took over Wall Street, but the uprising against economic inequality has spread across North America, with protests in Vancouver, Denver, Los Angeles, Nashville and dozens of other cities.
Local protesters held a planning meeting Thursday evening at the University of Toronto for medical, media and legal training. The “occupation” is set to begin Saturday morning in the heart of the Financial District. Organizers are expecting up to 2,000 people to attend with 250 of them setting up camp.
