Ontario provincial police have a man in custody after following a stolen tractor-trailer for four hours throughout southern Ontario Monday.

The driver of the stolen vehicle finally pulled over on the QEW at the Fairview Street exit in Burlington around 1:20 p.m. No injuries have been reported.

"Public safety is a big thing...We didn't want to spook him, either," OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford told CityNews.

"The driver was apprehended without anyone being hurt and without any vehicles being damaged, which is really good," he added.

The suspect had led police around the GTA and Niagara area, beginning around 8 a.m. The incident started in the Niagara area, headed down to London, through Kitchener-Waterloo, Mississauga and then back to Niagara. The driver was stopped on his way back to Toronto.

"I think we've been to every region we look after in southern Ontario," Woodford joked.

CityNews has learned that the truck is owned by an independent operator that works with J-Line Transport Ltd. The truck had a full tank of gas and was carrying $10,000 worth of wood when it was stolen. It had a speed limiter on board and could not go more than 105 kilometres per hour.

J-Line Transport told CityNews.ca that the operator came to pick up the truck at a Husky truck stop on Monday morning and noticed it was missing. None of their drivers were injured or believed to be on board the truck, J-Line added.
