Trial begins for two men charged in murder of Glen Davis

Trial begins for two men charged in murder of Glen Davis

Court proceedings got underway Thursday for two men charged with first degree murder in the 2007 shooting death of renowned environmental philanthropist Glen Davis.

Two weeks ago Marshall Ross, 41, pleaded guilty to first-degree murder in the case, receiving an automatic life sentence.

Ross was the 66-year-old victim's godson.

On Wednesday, the court heard opening arguments in the trials of Dmitri Kossyrine and Ivgeny Vorobiov.  Both men are 33 and both have pleaded not guilty of first degree murder.

The Crown is alleging that Ross hired Kossyrine and Ivgeny Vorobiov to kill Davis after he incurred a $2 million debt with him for a failed business venture.

Davis was shot twice in an underground parking garage in May 2007.   He survived an earlier attempt on his life in 2005 when he was attacked with a baseball bat.
