A concierge was shot in the leg after confronting an armed man in a downtown condo.

It happened at a building across from Harbourfront Centre at Queens Quay West and Lower Simcoe Street.

The concierge told police a group walked into the lobby around 3 a.m. Friday, and he noticed one of the men had a gun. He called police and tried to hold the suspect but, during a struggle, was shot in the leg.

The group fled, one who crashed his motorcycle near Cherry Street and Unwin Avenue. Police took him into custody, but could not say whether he was the gunman.

The emergency task force was called in to search the building where some members of the group had scattered, but they found no one.

Both the concierge and the motorcyclist had only minor injuries.
