BRAMPTON - A 24-year-old man was shot and wounded after two uniformed Peel officers opened fire at a car late Sunday.
The wounded man fled the Vodden St. E. scene, just west of Kennedy Rd., and made his own way to hospital.
Sources said the officers responded to a suspicious vehicle call by the townhouse complex on Vodden Ct.
As they walked to the car at around 10 p.m., the driver sped off, allegedly towards the officers.
They got out of the way as they opened fire, sources said.
The driver was hit but fled, later arriving at Credit Valley Hospital with gunshot wounds.
The vehicle he arrived in matched the description of the vehicle that fled the scene, the Special Investigations Unit said.
The SIU said the man was transferred to St. Michael’s Hospital for treatment.
Five investigators and two forensic investigators have been assigned to the shooting, the SIU said.
