ST. CATHARINES — Police say they opened fire on a van that drove at an officer early today in St. Catharines, Ont.
It started after police responded to a reported break and enter at an LCBO store in the Fairview Mall.
Police say they fired shots into a 1998 white Dodge Caravan in the liquor store parking lot after it rammed into a police vehicle and drove at an officer around 2 a.m.
The van took off and made its way onto the QEW, at first eastbound and then westbound toward Hamilton.
Police pursued the van but with speeds reaching 180 km/h, officers called off the chase near Fifty Road in Stoney Creek.
Investigators say they are looking for three male suspects and the van, which police say was stolen. It has Ontario licence plate BKLC-759 and damage to the middle passenger side window.
