Woman, 59, chases purse snatcher

WASHINGTON, USA (AP) — Police say a 59-year-old woman chased down a purse snatcher who was fleeing on a bicycle in Longview, Washington, pulled him to the ground and grabbed back her purse.

Two witnesses detained the man until the police arrived.

According to court documents filed this week, the purse snatching incident took place in a Safeway parking lot last Friday. The woman chased the bicyclist about 15 feet.

The purse contained $62 and five credit cards.

The Daily News reported that a Cowlitz County superior court judge found probable cause to charge 29-year-old Mark Grendahl Jr of Longview with five counts of second-degree theft. The newspaper said he was held Wednesday evening in the Cowlitz County Jail on a $25,000 bail.
