At a media conference on Friday, police said one of the more popular scams is an "anti-virus" scam.
"Suspects are contacting victims by phone or through pop-ups on the victim's computer screen," Det. Alan Spratt said.
"The suspects are pretending to be from Microsoft or another corporation. They're claiming that there's some type of virus on the victim's computer. They convince the victim to give their credit card number to pay a fee to fix that virus."
