2 teens arrested after sexual assault at Cedarbrae C.I.

Toronto police are investigating a sexual assault at Cedarbrae Collegiate Institute.
Two teenage boys are in custody after an alleged sexual assault at a Scarborough high school sent a female student to hospital.
A girl told police she was held down and assaulted at Cederbrae Collegiate Institute on Dec. 1. She was taken to hospital and the suspects were arrested that same day. All three are students at the school.
“The 17-year-old and 18-year-old students have both been charged with sexual assault, forcible confinement, and assault causing bodily harm,” Const. Wendy Drummond told CityNews.
Parents say they weren’t informed about the attack for at least a week.
“The school should have informed the parents for sure that something was going on, before we heard it on the news,” parent Brian Boddington said.
Not sending a letter home to parents was “one of the most difficult judgments or decisions we sometimes have to make," Toronto District School Board superintendent Don McLean said.
“Obviously we take incidents like this very, very, seriously...We really were concerned about protecting the privacy of the individual. We don’t want to victimize the victim further.”
The school, which has a resource officer and security cameras on site, is now under a safety audit.
