Human remains have been found on Caledon King Townline S, just north of Bolton, York Regional Police confirm with CityNews.
The area has been cordoned off and the homicide unit has been called to the scene.
Police have confirmed to CityNews the remains are that of a male, but the age of the victim aren't clear at this time.
The remains were discovered by a passerby Monday afternoon at around 3:20 p.m., who alerted police.
Officials say the body was found in a bag not far off the roadway. York regional police will be canvassing the area to collect any possible information from the public.
“At this time, if the public does have any information, we’re not sure at this stage how long the body has been there. It was off the roadway, but it wasn’t far enough off the roadway that the passersby did see it,” said Det. Sgt. John Braybrook.
The area is expected to be closed throughout the night.
An autopsy will be conducted Tuesday.
