SIU called after man shot on Ontario Street near Gerrard

The Special Investigations Unit (SIU) has been called after a 27-year-old man was shot in an alley near Ontario and Gerrard streets Thursday night.
EMS tell CityNews the victim was conscious when they arrived. He was shot once in the torso and was rushed to St. Michael's Hospital in serious but stable condition.
There's no word on arrests.
It's not confirmed if the man was shot by a police officer, but the SIU is called in when there's an injury or death involving police.
The SIU is an arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
