A Peel police cruiser involved in a collision with a suspected drunk driver is shown.
It happened shortly after 4 a.m. near Burnhamthorpe and Cawthra Road.
According to police, the officer was travelling along Burnhamthorpe Road when a red minivan being driven by the suspect along Molly Avenue sped through the intersection and struck the side of his cruiser.
The officer was taken to hospital with minor injuries as was the driver of the minivan and a passenger.
On Sunday morning neighbours described the crash as horrific.
"It sounded like a train hitting a bus or something," Hosam Elrayis told CP24. "It was a very, very, very loud bang. You know if you can hear something like that one block away it's got to be bad."
More to come…
