Just three days into the New Year, the woman is the city's third homicide victim of 2012.
Her name hasn't been released.
One person was taken into custody after the woman's body was found inside a residence on Airdrie Road, near Eglinton Avenue East and Laird Drive.
Members of the homicide squad are investigating the circumstances of the death.
A person who lives on the street said police arrived at the home Sunday at about 4 p.m., and a body was removed from the home Sunday night.
