SIU investigating Peel police shooting in Brampton

The province's Special Investigations Unit has been called in after an undercover Peel police officer allegedly shot a man in Brampton on Friday night.

It happened on Velvet Grass Lane, near Bramalea Road and Peter Roberston Blvd.


The shooting happened around 7 p.m.


The SIU says the man was shot either in a vehicle, or on the street after a brief pursuit with an SUV.


"Some plainclothes officers were following the vehicle. The person is now in hospital with a gun shot wound," said Carm Piro, SIU Investigator.

The SIU is an arm's length agency that investigates reports involving police where there has been death, serious injury or allegations of sexual assault.
