One person was taken to hospital after a taxicab crashed into a highway barrier just north of Toronto early Thursday morning.
The male cab driver was rushed to a Toronto hospital in critical condition.
Two of Highway 400's southbound express lanes are blocked south of Highway 7, and Ontario Provincial Police say all of the express lanes are expected to to close at Highway 407 for an investigation.
When that happens, people should take Highway 400's southbound collectors lanes to Highway 7, where they will be able to rejoin the express lanes.
Vehicles are moving slowly in the one remaining express lane that is open to traffic.
Emergency personnel were called to the scene at about 3:50 a.m. after the taxicab went off the highway.
OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford said the southbound taxicab was in the right lane when it veered across all lanes, struck a concrete barrier and veered across the lanes again before narrowly missing a wooden pole.
Woodford said the driver wasn't wearing a seatbelt, and investigators are looking at alcohol and fatigue as possible factors.
The driver was rushed to Sunnybrook hospital with head injuries.
