Fire crews dealing with chemical spill in Brampton

Fire crews are at the scene of a chemical spill on Rutherford Road South, near Queen Street and Highway 410, in Brampton.

Police are advising people to stay clear of the area.

There is concern a yet-undetermined chemical has possibly leaked into a creek that runs near Birchbank Public School. Crews have put booms across the creek in the Alfred Kuhne and Advance boulevards area.

Officials are trying to determine the cause, but there is a report the spill may be due to a break-and-enter at a trucking yard overnight.
