Boy, 4, found alone on sidewalk in St. Catharines

ST. CATHARINES, Ont. — A four-year-old boy was found walking on the street and not dressed for the cold, snowy weather early today in St. Catharines, Ont.
Niagara regional police say a resident spotted the boy on the sidewalk in the early morning hours.
The boy was in good health and said he had a nightmare and wanted to see his grandmother, who lives a short distance from his residence.
His mother was unaware the child had left home, until the grandmother called her.
The mother's bedroom is in the basement while her son's bedroom is on the main floor and she could not hear him leave.
Police offered some suggestions to the mother on how to prevent a similar incident from happening again.
