Jason Meadus was ordered remanded in custody for a video appearance on Nov. 8.
Wearing black clothing and his hands handcuffed in front, he nodded to the justice of the peace and smirked.
Court was told he was charged with flight from police, dangerous driving and an unspecified number of other charges.
His lawyer Robert Christie was not in attendance, and asked the case be put over until next week.
The bizarre police pursuit began around 8 a.m. Monday in Burlington, when officers spotted the empty flatbed truck — reported stolen four hours earlier from the Niagara area — travelling along the QEW.
The pursuit ended peacefully five and a half hours later in the same city.
