TORONTO — Drug and gun-related charges against two Toronto men have been dropped, a spokesman for the Ministry of the Attorney General confirmed Tuesday.
The charges against Akil Whyte and Marvin Bannor, both 18, were withdrawn as there was no reasonable hope of conviction, Brendan Crawley said in an email.
The two were among four men and one 17-year-old boy facing 77 charges after police executed search warrants in a northwest Toronto neighbourhood in July.
Kevin Prempeh, 20, who was also charged, has been remanded to appear in court on Wednesday, Crawley said.
Also charged in the case were Keion Donegan, 20, and a 17-year-old boy, who cannot be named under the Youth Criminal Justice Act.
There was no immediate word on whether those charges would also be withdrawn.
