A 38-year-old woman was killed and two children were injured when a minivan collided with a combine in a southern Ontario town Tuesday night.
Niagara Regional Police said the fatal crash occurred on Forks Road in Wainfleet, about 35 kilometres southwest of Niagara Falls.
Police said a westbound Dodge Caravan, driven by the woman, rear-ended the slow-moving combine, which had a 49-year-old man behind the controls.
A fire erupted in the minivan's engine compartment, but it was quickly extinguished by the combine's driver.
Police said the woman died at the scene, while her passengers, two boys aged 10 and 13, and the combine driver were taken to hospital in Welland.
The woman was a resident of Selkirk, Ont.
Anyone with information about the collision is asked to call Niagara Regional Police at 905- 688-4111 ext. 5500.
