Needle found in Halloween candy in Whitby

The area Durham police are investigating after Halloween candy incident, Nov. 2, 2011.
Durham police are warning parents to be vigilant after a needle was discovered in a piece of Halloween candy in Whitby Tuesday night.

Police say an 11-year-old girl bit into a piece of candy and discovered a small needle buried inside.

She was not injured.


The child was trick-or-treating only on Hialeah Crescent in the Manning Road and Thickson Road North area of Whitby between 6:20 p.m. and 8:15 p.m. on Halloween.
