Forensic investigators are beginning the task of trying to identify a male who died in a fiery crash on the Don Valley Parkway.
Toronto police haven't confirmed the identity of the male who was killed when a BMW sport utility vehicle struck the support column of a pedestrian bridge, became airborne, burst into flames and slammed into a guardrail Thursday.
The crash occurred in the southbound lanes, just north of the Gerrard Street bridge.
Police closed the southbound lanes for about five hours.
Witnesses told CP24 the sport utility vehicle was speeding when the crash occurred.
Other witnesses said pieces of the vehicle broke off and were hurled several metres in the collision.
Police are investigating the cause.
