Two roses and a poppy lay at the base of lieutenant-colonel Edwin Spearing’s tombstone at the National Military Cemetery in Ottawa on Thursday.
- Ceremonies take place at 10:45 a.m. at Old City Hall, the East York, North York and York civic centres, Queen’s Park, and Fort York. Services begin at 10:15 a.m. at the Etobicoke Civic Centre.
- At the Canadian Air and Space Museum, ex-RAF pilot Philip Gray, 89, will be on hand at 10 a.m.
- At the CN Tower, two minutes of silence at 11 a.m. will be preceded by a reading of In Flanders Fields.
- At Mississauga Civic Centre, a ceremony will take place at 10:45 a.m. in council chambers followed by the laying of wreaths in Mississauga Celebration Square.
- A Vaughan Remembrance Day parade hosted by Royal Canadian Legion Branch 414 will begin in Market Lane on Woodbridge Avenue at 10:45 a.m., followed by an 11 a.m. ceremony at the cenotaph on Wallace Street.
- A parade and service hosted by Branch 15 of the Royal Canadian Legion takes place at Brampton City Hall’s Memorial Square cenotaph at 10:45 a.m.
