Toronto breaks warm weather record

CityNews

Toronto broke a warm-weather record on Friday (say that three times fast) when the mercury hit 15.7C.

Previously, the highest temperature ever recorded on Nov. 25 was back in 2001, when we reached 15.6C.

The temperature may have climbed even higher than 15.7C, meteorologist Natasha Ramsahai explained, but we won't know for certain until 8 p.m.

Those warm temperatures put winter on hold until next week, with double-digit temperatures forecast for the GTA this weekend.

“You can get outdoors today, get active, get those final few things done — maybe get some of those leaves out of the eavestrough,” said CityNews weather specialist Frank Ferragine.

“It’s back to reality, back to November-like conditions with a rain-snow mix on Wednesday and Thursday.”

Toronto reached a high of about 16C Friday, a whopping 11 degrees above the norm, and temperatures on both Saturday and Sunday will hover around 11C.

It will stay dry until Sunday, which will be a “soaker,” according to Ferragine. As much as 25 millimetres of rain could fall starting around 7 a.m.
