Barber was victim of fatal shooting: father
A man in his 30s who was gunned down inside a barbershop at Malvern Town Centre on Tuesday afternoon was a barber at the shop, his father says.The victim's father confirmed to CTV Toronto's Tamara Cherry his son was fatally shot inside Cut Creator, located in the mall's lower plaza, shortly after 12:40 p.m.
The victim, who was shot at least twice, was pronounced dead at the scene.
Homicide detectives are investigating the shooting, which is the city's fifth homicide of 2012.
Police said the man was shot multiple times and they are looking for at least one person who fled the scene on foot after the shooting.
Const. Tony Vella wouldn't speculate on the circumstances leading up to the shooting. He told CP24 the "sequence of events is under investigation."
He asked the public to come forward if they witnessed something that could shed light on this homicide case.
Police are investigating the motive for the shooting and exploring whether it is related to any other incidents.
Malvern Town Centre remains open and police say that there are no plans to shut it down. The plaza where the shooting occurred remains a crime scene and has been roped off from the public.
