A man in his 30s was shot to death inside a barbershop at Malvern Town Centre in Scarborough on Tuesday, Toronto police confirm.

Officers responded to a call for shots fired at 31 Tapscott Road just before 1 p.m.

They found the victim without vital signs inside Cut Creator barbershop
.  CityNews reporters on the scene have learned the victim is a longtime barber at the shop named Chris.

"Police are still trying to determine what motivated the shooting and who may be responsible," Const. Tony Vella told CityNews. "We know there is at least one person involved, there may be more."

Police have no suspects in custody, but are questioning several potential witnesses.

The homicide squad has been called to the scene and the mall's parking lot has been taped off for the investigation.

"There were a number of people in the area at the time and we are asking anyone who may have seen the incident.... We urge you to come forward and speak to officers," Vella said.
