Police investigate after gunshot victim turns up at Scarborough hospital

A man has died of gunshot wounds after being dropped off at Scarborough General Hospital early Saturday morning.

The victim has been identified as Anthony Spencer, 23, of Toronto. He was remembered online as a loving father and aspiring musician.


Police tell CityNews the victim arrived at 5 a.m., suffering from obvious gunshot wounds.


He was carried into the hospital by a group of men and one woman, who quickly fled the scene.


"We need [those people] to come forward," Toronto police Det. Sgt. Gary Giroux said.


"We need them to tell us where he was picked up and under what circumstances."


There’s no word on where the shooting took place, however police say they are searching the areas of Kennedy and Lawrence, along with Kennedy and Ellesmere.


Police are also looking are looking to identify the woman and men who brought the victim to the hospital and the two vehicles used.


One of the vehicles is said to be a silver, four-door Nissan. The other vehicle is described as an older-model beige or gold four-door sedan.


Spencer's death marks the city's fourth murder of 2012.
