A 66-year-old Toronto woman is dead after the vehicle she was a passenger in was struck by a school bus Thursday morning.
It happened around 9 a.m. on Dixon Road near Islington Avenue.
According to police, the woman was travelling in an eastbound Toyota Camry as it turned northbound onto Islington Avenue and was T-boned by the westbound school bus, which wasn't carrying any children.
A parked TTC bus, carrying 40 passengers, was subsequently struck by the Camry, but nobody on board the TTC bus reported any injuries.
The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
The 74-year-old driver of the Camry and the 56-year-old driver of the school bus were treated for non-life-threatening injuries.
"We don't have any indications at this point of any weather conditions or anything like that playing a part," Const. Clint Stibbe told CP24 at the scene. "Reconstruction officers are looking at the scene and they are collecting evidence in that regard.
"The reconstruction officers are setting up their equipment to take the measurements and what not," Stibbe said. "Once that's completed the vehicles will be taken from the scene for further investigation."
The intersection reopened at about 2:30 p.m.
Anyone who may have witnessed the crash is asked to call Traffic Services at (416) 808-1900.
