TORONTO - For the second time in less than a month, a teenage boy has been gunned down in the city.
And once again, the young victim was killed at a Toronto Community Housing property.
Toronto Police say 31 Division officers responded to the shooting at 40 Turf Grass Way, near Jane St. And Finch Ave. W., just after 10:30 Monday night and found the mortally wounded youth.
“Officers located a victim suffering from a gunshot wound to his body,” Const. Tony Vella said Tuesday.
He said the boy, who had no vital signs, was rushed to hospital where he was pronounced dead.
Police are not releasing any further details at this point in the city’s sixth murder of the year. And they would not reveal the victim’s age.
However, it’s believed the boy was only 15 years old and he was shot in his third-floor apartment.
Homicide detectives and Forensics officers were at the scene through the night.
Almost four weeks ago, on Jan. 18, another 15-year-old was shot to death at 605 Whiteside Pl., a government housing highrise in Regent Park.
Tyson Bailey, a promising football player at Central Tech high school, went to play video games with a friend who lives in the apartment building that afternoon.
He was shot multiple times in a 13th floor stairwell.
And on Jan. 23, a nine-year-old boy was gunned down in his Brampton home.
Kesean Williams was shot in the head while sitting in the living room of his Ardglen Dr. townhouse by a gunman who fired from outside.
No arrests have been made yet in any of the three killings.
But several people are being questioned in the latest murder.
Anyone with information in the Jane-Finch murder is urged to call the Homicide Unit at 416-808-7400 or Crime Stoppers at 416-222-TIPS (8477).
