DVP closing this weekend for maintenance work

The Bloor Viaduct, and the barriers along it, are seen from the Don Valley Parkway.
City crews are shutting down the entire stretch of the Don Valley Parkway for the weekend, meaning motorists may encounter delays or congestion near the heavily-used highway.
The DVP will be closed between Highway 401 and the Gardiner Expressway from Saturday at 2 a.m. to Monday at 5 a.m. for annual spring maintenance work.
A full closure is required to allow employees to perform the work safely, the city said in a news release.
Their tasks will include replacing precast subway beams at the lower deck of the Prince Edward Viaduct, cleaning and repairing 500 catch basins, replacing sound barrier walls, repairing two RESCU vehicle detectors, and performing regular maintenance work on pavement markings, signs and closed-circuit television cameras.
Motorists are being asked to avoid the area or use public transit, if possible.
Instead of using the DVP, they can take Don Mills Road, Bayview Avenue, Victoria Park Avenue or Kingston Road as alternate routes during the closure, the city said.
