3rd Annual City Carol Sing for local food banks set for Dec. 17
Some of this country’s finest singers will converge on midtown Toronto later this month for the third annual City Carol Sing to support food banks across the county, including Toronto’s Churches on-the-Hill Food Bank.
The show will take place on Dec. 17 at 2 p.m. at Yorkminister Park Baptist Church, on Yonge Street north of St. Clair Avenue.
The church can hold 1,700 people and admission is free with a donation.
Citytv is a proud sponsor of the event, with CityNews anchor Gord Martineau hosting the show. The performance will be recorded for a one-hour special that will air on all Citytv stations across Canada over the Christmas holidays.
Tenor Richard Margison, who has sung all over the world and recently performed the role of Canio in Leoncavallo's I Pagliaci will take part, as will his daughter, soprano Lauren Margison.
The High Park Choirs of Toronto, the Larkin Singers, the Viva Arts Brass and the choirs of Yorkminster Park Baptist Church and Christ Church Deer Park will also perform.
Money and food raised will be going to food banks across Canada, including Toronto’s Churches on-the-Hill Food Bank.
The Churches on-the-Hill Food Bank is entirely volunteer-driven – there are no paid employees – and is open twice a week. One-quarter of people who use the food bank live in the area.
